At Sustainable Appalachian Woodworking, woodworking started as a path of purpose. We find inspiration in the forrest that surrounds us. After serving as a Marine, Derrick returned to the WV hills and eventually started to create functional pieces that highlighted the natural beauty of the wood. Sarah, who is an Afghanistan and Iraq vet, helps with behind the scenes stuff.
However, Sarah stay tuned to see how Sarah might be adding her own twist on the business!!!
We have been beyond honored to be juried into and sell our products at the Tamarack! We are excited to see what great things is next for our business and Appalachia!!
Our process is rooted in traditional hand tooling techniques with a creative twist. We start with local, sustainably sourced wood (mainly harvested from our own land just outside of Prickett's Fort) and Derrick adds his creativity to each piece. On some occasions, Derrick incorporates limited amounts of exotic woods to accentuate the natural beauty of the wood.
Not only do we sell our products at the Tamarack, we also have dipped our toe into the local markets! Come see our wears in person, or visit our Instagram page!
In addition to our unique pieces, we offer a range of woodworking services including repair, restoration, and refinishing. We are committed to providing exceptional customer service and ensuring that each project meets our clients' unique needs and specifications.
